One door Closes, another one Opens

untitled-1-17

Hello Lovlies,
Tuning in to say goodbye, one last blog post to end my time here at AMKT. I am snuggled in at home during the first major snowstorm in NS, a blizzard is in the works, a complete opposite to how I am feeling: inspired, joyful, connected and full of clarity.
A lot has happened in 2013, ups and downs of life both personally and professionally, too much to tell in one blog post. What I can tell you is that I am happy, joy and gratitude are constant companions.
TRUTH was my choice for “word of the year” for 2013. Choosing a word is one way to let your choices, decisions and your everyday living be guided by what you really want for not only yourself but your impact on the world and the people in it. A word that promotes growth, change and what you want to guide and nudge you through the year.
ONE WORD. 365 days. A CHANGED LIFE
Truth, and discovering MY truth took many forms. It meant finding clarity in ALL that I was doing. It meant getting real, examining the reasons for why I was doing what I was doing. Did it support my greater sense of purpose? Was it driven by ego or spirit? Was it getting me closer to my goals?
I let Truth guide and gently nudge me the whole year in my work, my life and my decisions. I wanted deeper connections, I wanted my work to reflect my purpose and I wanted to live with greater intention. I wanted a way to deepen my gratitude practice, I wanted to share it, teach it. I wanted to shine so bright that it would ignite a flame in others.
It took the year to make some changes, and more are coming. I left my instructor position at the college where I was teaching, devoted more time to my gratitude practice and allowed it to evolve, connected with many like minded heart–inspired people and sacrificed short term gain for long term success. I left AMKT open to coming back because I love my space here, I love blogging, connecting and sharing.  However writing in this space has served it’s purpose, it’s time to close this chapter so I can move deeper into writing what my heart is longing on. Writing is not ending, only evolving to a new space, new content, a new blogging partnership of sorts and a heart space shared with another blogger. Here, we will unveil the beauty that has been unfolding in our lives, and invite others to share in our journey and more importantly become a part of it should they be inspired to. After all, this space is meant to be our space, a community, and it only thrives with your evolution, your contribution.
My “word of the year” for 2014 is FREEDOM. My truth set me free; free to pursue what I have been dreaming of, what’s in my heart, and what will bring me the most joy.
The picture of this bald eagle is one that I took in my back yard towards the end of 2012.Eagles are extremely visionary, have the essence of expanding spirit by flying high and free. He also represents Freedom with the white feathers being symbolic of Truth and Justice. The great spirit of the eagle has given me a reminder to be proud and strong and to do so with great humility ……be beautiful but do not boast.
Thank you with my whole heart for reading, connecting and for opening up your own heart to me. I am excited to share the next part of the journey and perhaps have it intertwined with yours…
I’ll be back to share a new link to my new blog.
With love and gratitude,
Patricia xoxo

Happy New Year

Good Evening everyone,

I hope there are a few people out there still checking in from time to time. This past fall has been crazy, busy, exciting and fun.M and I built and moved into a new house and the journey has been incredible . It just hasn’t left a lot of time for blogging.Honestly I feel like I am changing and the focus of this blog will be changing although it will still focus on the kitchen table wisdom and all the simple things in live that brings joy, contentment and gratitude.

One big thing that has been happening on the professional and honestly personal side has been the development of a mastermind group. This is a group of like-minded individuals who meet  once a month for the common goal and who are like-minded and “value” based. Group members need to:

  • Be Catalysts for growth(personal and professional)
  • Be able to “raise the bar”
  • provide strong support
  • give you solid feedback and perspectives
  • provide Clarity and accountability
  • provide empowerment and to help you stretch and grow

I have found 3 women who meet these requirements and more and we are embarking on not only a mastermind group but a gratitude project that is near and dear to my heart.

Getting back to a regular blogging practice has been something I wanted to do but honestly the thought of it was overwhelming. It is time-consuming, not just the writing but the photo editing as well. I love it and miss it at the same time so that’s why I am changing the focus, to allow me to write without the pressure of having awesome food pictures(although there will be a few foodie pics)

If you remember from last year I participated in the Word of the Year movement.

This year my Word is TRUTH. To me, this means seriously examining the reasons why I do the things I do, what is the Truth in each of my own life experiences. Are the things I am doing matching living with purpose towards my true authentic self. Examining  my Truth will no doubt be a challenge as I discover who my true authentic self is and embracing all she is and meant to be. A lot of this work I have already done, I just don’t entirely feel I am living that truth. At times my ego takes over and I know this does not serve any greater purpose , it only leads to directly contributing to the suffering of the world.

In finding my Truth. I will be taking responsibility with integrity which ultimately leads to greater life fulfilment.

I hope you all are embracing your experiences in 2012 and looking forward to 2013 and all of it’s possibilities.

Patricia

Bike and Bean

Happy Sunday Morning!!

In the past 2 weeks I have been to the Bike and Bean Cafe in Upper Tantallon twice. It is a sweet little cafe and bike rental/store in a historic train station.

Here is the link:

Iced Tea

Drink Menu

Coffee by the bag, could life get any better?

Cute shirt for sale

Mini tea pots seem to follow me around

There are lots of sweet decorations like this lantern

My friend had some carrot cake.

Panini sandwich, comes with a side of corn chips and salsa

There are bikes like this everywhere

Beautifully inviting

Come on , how can you not want to go in here ?

M. likes this soda

Comes with a little saying in the cap “your success in life will be due to your earnest efforts”. Isn’t that a good piece of advice?  Really not a shocker or anything, you reap what you sow, good or bad.

Isn’t it cozy looking ?

I highly recommend a stop in at this cafe for lunch, a coffee or a bike ride !!

Have a great rainy Sunday.

Healthy Eatin’

Good Morning!

I find summer one of the worst times for heathy eating. Lots of social get togethers, not wanting to cook and just snack, refreshments etc. So I have spent some time really focusing through the week on healthy meal planning and if I go out to make healthier choices (which I usually do ) but to try to be more aware. Then on the weekends , I have attempted to make the best choices BUT also to be just ok with any indulgences.

There has been a lot of veggies on the bbq, sometimes I make extra and have them for lunch the next day.

Spiced Sweet potatoes

This place is an excellent option for good food, great atmosphere and lots of options. One Sunday in July it was so hot, I wasn’t really feeling like cooking so we headed to the Monkey!! Have you guys been there ??

Outside was a bit busy on the patio and inside was nice and cool, and such a nice view

Cucumber water

Michael usually gets a pizza, eats 1/2 and has the rest for the next day.

I got the pesto walnut chicken sandwich, with a salad, so refreshing.

Any of you guys out there have some links for healthy eats recipes??

Rainy day here in Halifax, and absolutely no plans!!

Have a great day!

Patricia

{this moment} introduction

Good morning lovelies!!

For the longest time I have been reading other blogs that did the {this moment} Friday  post. So I have decided to jump on board and start each Friday and return with regular posts tomorrow. Here is my first one:

Another sushi Friday

Hello everyone,

This is a little bit of a copy cat post! I don’t really get tired of taking sushi picture and I had so many in my Lightroom editor from the past 2 months so I chose a few of them for one single post.

No Banana available again for our roll so we ordered a simple avocado roll…yummy much better than the beef teriyaki that we had earlier in the month.

Assorted sushi combination

Sweet Potato

New plates at the Kita

Fresh Thai rolls

Yummy!!

Have a great day everyone,

Patricia

Along the shore to the Kiwi Cafe!

Good morning!

We headed to Bayswater Beach one day and the weather turned nasty. We were evacuated off the beach and we drove right into a hail storm. The hail was the size of marbles but we drove out of it as fast as we drove in to it. We headed down the road to Graves Island and it was beautiful and hot!

Used my macro lens to get a couple of beach shots:

We left there and traveled into Chester to a few refreshments. We hit the Kiwi cafe.

It is decorated really nice. Bright colours, flowers and beautiful inside decor.

You all know I love a chalkboard

Sweet tea pots

Cute, simple menus

Great prices

Everything comes with one slice of kiwi!

so refreshing

I love this one. They had all kinds of herbs planted around the cafe.

Have a great day!

Patricia
